BATHROOM: Festival of the Lion King @ Animal Kingdom
So you’re looping Festival of the Lion King (because it’s Tuesday) and you Just Can’t Wait to use the little lion’s room. Well, great news—there’s a location right outside! Be Prepared for an experience that is, while not quite …To Die for, still fit for a king!
Ambiance 6/10
I’ve been following this one Festival of the Lion King stilt walker on instagram for a few years now. This girl is an absolute smoke-show. I’m talking 10/10. Like run over your kid with an electric scooter hot. I guess this totally isn’t relevant to the ambiance of the restroom but I just wanted to give a shoutout to Amber if she’s reading this. I’m not sure if you’ve gotten my last few DMs but you can also message me here.
Decor 7/10
There’s a lot of great things happening in this bathroom. The vibe of the African village is tastefully executed outside. While I’ve never been to Africa, this is kind of how I expect it to look. I feel like you can really feel the poverty with the weathered and aged architecture. However, inside the bathroom things are a little too modern. Amenities such as plumbing and hand dryers seem a little out of place to me. I really like the signs outside which advertise for Kilimanjaro Safaris (great theming!), but you just kind of lose me a little bit if you want me to believe that these villagers afforded that exquisite tiling.
Facilities 7/10
I absolutely love the mirrors in here. If I’m being honest, usually I’m just coming in here to freshen up a little bit for Amber just in case we accidentally lock eyes during the show or meet up at her blue 2013 Toyota Corolla after her shift, so these work out extremely well for me. What I do not like is that this restroom has a turn handle door once you enter through the ornate, spade-top entrance. You wont find many bathroom doors like this around the theme parks—and for good reason! The facilities are otherwise pretty darn good though.
Privacy 6/10
You Probably know by now how I feel about the restrooms at Animal Kingdom (bleh!), so I have to grade them on a curve. I would not go near this place once a FotLK show lets out—you’ll probably end up in a line (trust me). However, I can recommend checking this place out between shows or after they’re done for the day. It’s a pretty cool place to check out, and you can probably have a Hakuna Matata experience.
OVERALL: 6.5
