Boardwalk Clown Fired From Boardwalk Pool

It appears the Boardwalk Clown, known to friends and family as Whacky Wallypop has left his post at The Keister Coaster Waterslide for the final time. Yesterday, Wally was relieved of his duty for undisclosed reasons. The area where his lifeless starry-eyes once lay, has now been covered up with an inconspicuous sky tarp.

Mr. Wallypop got his start in 1991 at Motel 6, before joining the opening team of Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, where for over 20 years, he welcomed thousands of guests down his 200-foot slippery tongue of twists and turns. Today, Boardwalk swimmers may only enter the pool by way of stairs, a slow sitting shuffle or a frowned-upon cannonball.

With reasons for Wally’s departure so uncertain, many are wondering if other beloved slide figures, such as the Port Orleans Dragon, are safe. While it is early, potential replacements for the clown include Mickey Mouth, Nick the Needle and a visual representation of public speaking.

Whatever is next, we know you’ll join us in wishing the best for our favorite wide-mouthed clown friend.
