The folks over at Walt Disney Pictures were excited to announce the voice casting of Chris Pratt as Pinocchio in the new, live-action remake of the beloved Disney film. The announcement came as Sean Bailey, President of Walt Disney Pictures, spoke to press this morning.

“As you know, we’ve been looking for the right voice actor to lend their talent to Pinocchio for close to a decade now,” Bailey told reporters at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. “We spent a lot of time focusing on finding the perfect voice, and wanted to stay true to the character, with cultural sensitivity in mind. After screen testing countless Italian voice actors, we finally found our puppet in Chris Pratt. We couldn’t be more excited.”

The decision comes with mixed reviews. One unnamed fan told us after the press conference, “This is incredible. I just love Chris Pratt so much. He’s so cool and funny, and loves God and his wife. He’s the perfect fit.”

Others were less excited. “Does this guy really need to be in everything? Jesus Christ, this is tiresome. He’s not even funny. More like Star Bored!”

DisDumps is told Pratt will also provide motion capture for the roll, and has signed on to a 6-film sequel deal with Walt Disney Pictures, giving the audience the chance to finally follow the marionette-turned-boy through childhood and into the stresses of adulthood.
