Continuing with a string of reimagining animated classics, Disney announced today that production has begun on a remake of the hit 2016 film Zootopia. Originally written as a niche furry-flick, it went on to gross over $1 Billion worldwide, enchanting children and anthropomorphic cosplayers alike.

Ash Boone, a red fox, has been cast as Nick Wildea sly, small-time con artist. Boone, now 8 years old, is best known for portraying Mufasa on Broadway. “I can still remember when my mom took me to see Zootopia when I was just a pup. I’m excited to get the chance to bring Nick Wilde to life for a whole new generation of all species,” he noted through a translator.

Ironically, alongside Ash is Judy Hopps, set to star as Judy Hopps. Owner, Lily Wagner, named her after being enamored with the original film.

While no release date has been announced, it should be noted that Disney is fast-tracking this project, as the lifespan of a rabbit is roughly 1-2 years in the Wagner home.
