FIRST LOOK: Spirit Shirts Spotted!
ORLANDO, FL—It’s no secret that spirit jerseys have become a huge part of Disney culture. In recent years, we’ve seen smash-hit colors such as Arendelle Aqua and Potion Purple lead to a flurry of merchandise extending past spirit jerseys—including ears, backpacks, pins, and even snacks! While the phenomenon has been a huge success, today Disney has extended the line to be more inclusive. We were the first to spot the all new merch at Magic Kingdom and got a chance to speak with some guests lined up to purchase the new “Spirit Shirts.”

“I’ve always loved spirit jerseys, but mostly from the outside looking in. Sure I have a few, but they’re in very conservative colors—black, gray and slightly darker gray. It’s nice to be able to wear some of these colors without really wearing them,” one man, who wished to remain anonymous, noted. We spoke to several others who echoed this excitement to freely wear the more “feminine” colors, but others were just as excited to finally be able to wear a sweatshirt on their t-shirt.
“Honestly I’ve never had a problem wearing any of the more ‘risqué’ colors, but I was never really a fan of the fit of the sweatshirts. They were a little too baggy for me. These new tees fit tight around my biceps and provide a much more provocative look,” Travis Logan, self proclaimed Disney merch enthusiast, noted.
Surprisingly, the men weren’t the only ones eager to purchase. Even the biggest spirit jersey fan knows that long sleeves can often be impractical for the Orlando climate. “I haven’t counted in a while but I have at least 35 spirit jerseys here and another dozen or so back home at my parent’s house,” College Program Cast Member, Maegan Yu confessed. “I love wearing them to the parks but sometimes it’s just too hot! I picked up 4 Spirit Shirts today and I plan to wear them on hotter days. I can just tie my jersey to my waist and throw it on over my tee when it gets chilly,” she continued.
Also spotted were Ear Caps.
