MerchSurance – Insurance for your Disney Merch, Coming Soon to My Disney Experience & All Merchandise Locations
The 50th anniversary is in full-swing at Walt Disney World, and with it comes hundreds of new merchandise offerings – from must-haves like Mickey soap dispensers to hide-it-from-my-boyfriend gear like limited edition Ray-Ban aviators. And, if you’re anything like me, you’re not only running out of space for all this great stuff, but have also begun to worry about the potential fire hazard you’ve created in your rented Kissimmee bedroom.
Well, worry no more, merch lovers! Beginning today, you can add peace-of-mind to any merch purch’ at all Disney theme parks, online at Shop Disney and at the 4 remaining Disney Stores. With new MerchSurance, you can get a real-time insurance quote that covers theft, loss and damage on all your treasures. The price of your individual item insurance will fluctuate based on several factors, including value, rarity and likelihood of your significant other to commit arson.
Insuring previous merchandise purchases is a breeze as well, with the newly-updated My Disney Experience app. Just tap on the new MerchSurance feature and you’ll be able to upload a photo and enter in your item details for a certified Cast Member to review and appraise.
Keep in mind, while this will help you financially recover from a loss in the event of a fire, flood, or magical eternal winter, you will still be responsible for replacing the actual items. Some merch just can’t be found again on eBay, so I still recommend keeping an e-merch-ency bag handy at all times for those truly irreplaceable items Take it from my mistakes, in those precious few seconds during an emergency, you don’t want to be climbing a stool to grab your rare ears from the command hooks on the wall, or choosing between limited edition pins and your cats.
It looks like I’ll be pretty busy in the coming days getting quotes on my some-odd $85k worth of merch! Let us know – will you be adding MerchSurance to your next Disney purchase?

Tara moved to Orlando from Long Island to Orlando in 2015, and immediately picked up an Annual Pass, which she uses to bounce between the Main Street Emporium, Creations Shop, Black Spire Outpost, and of course, pin boards all across Disney property. When she's not on property picking up merch, you can find Tara at home updating her merch spreadsheets and on the phone with her MerchSurance rep.
